Along Arlon Road in Bertrange, Résidence Norma forms part of the Millewee masterplan, introducing a new model of affordable housing for Luxembourg. Sideshore’s design demonstrates how sustainability and accessibility can be embedded within a refined architectural framework.
Résidence Norma is articulated across five storeys and is designed to achieve the AAA Passive House standard. This ambition goes beyond energy performance—it reflects a belief that architecture can simultaneously elevate quality of life and reduce environmental impact. A ventilated façade system paired with high-performance glazing defines the building envelope, balancing light, comfort, and acoustic insulation with a restrained and contemporary material language.
The project’s environmental strategy is comprehensive. A green roof enhances ecological performance, supporting biodiversity and regulating temperature. A centralized mechanical ventilation system ensures optimal indoor air quality, while a heat pump and photovoltaic panels create a renewable energy ecosystem. Rainwater harvesting completes the cycle, embedding responsible resource management into everyday living.
Within this framework, the eight residential units combine affordability with spatial quality. Each apartment is conceived to maximize natural light, ensure acoustic comfort, and provide a balanced relationship between private and shared domains. By aligning social responsibility with architectural intent, Résidence Norma positions housing as a catalyst for a more equitable and sustainable urban future.
